KB1180 - Adding the end date to a course
Posted by Blair Friesen on 07 December 2017 11:50 AM

Since our upgrade to Moodle 3.2, you may have noticed a new field on your course settings page: Course end date

This field is used only for reporting purposes, so there's no danger that your students will be locked out.  If you are an instructor or course manager, we ask that you start using this field immediately, even if a course uses continuous intake enrolment*, with no end date.

Here's how to start using the Course end date field:

  1. go to the course's Edit settings page
  2. Scroll down to the Course end date field
  3. make sure that the Course end date field is enabled with a check mark
  4. use either the calendar tool, or the drop-down lists to enter the end date of the course.*

*If a course is continuous intake, or is a program shell, or for some other reason does not have a course end date, we ask that you enter a date of December 31, 2050, as shown in the following image.

We thank you for your cooperation in implementing this new practice.
