KB1206 - What is a Moodle MOOC?
Posted by Blair Friesen, Last modified by Blair Friesen on 10 January 2019 10:28 AM
Twice a year (January, and then again in the summer), Moodle Headquarters (a.k.a., Moodle HQ) offers a FREE, 4-week "Learn Moodle Basics" MOOC (Massive Open Online Course). Although it's not facilitated by VCC, it's a great way to get to know how to use Moodle.
The 4-week course is also a great opportunity to connect with the vibrant Moodle community dedicated to sharing resources, ideas and anything that could help inspire better teaching practices everywhere.
An activity-based learning course for teachers new to Moodle. Four weeks, 3 to 4 hours a week. No fees.
As a Mozilla Open Badges issuer, badges will be awarded for active participation and upon course completion!
Why participate in a Learn Moodle MOOC?
Ivan Holland, a past "Learn Moodle" participant, gives his perspective in this short interview.
If you wish to complete a Moodle MOOC during work hours you will need to make arrangements with your supervisor. For most staff and faculty, this activity could also be considered an appropriate use of career (CD) or professional development (PD) leave. To request CD or PD leave, follow the standard process by completing the CD Leave Request Form (for staff) or Faculty PD Proposal Form (for faculty).
*Instructors are based in Australia, so all dates that appear within the course or advertising for the course are a day ahead of North America.
